Day 4: How to pick the best books
The reason many of you are doing this challenge is because you want the BEST possible success for your child.
We’re already more than halfway through our challenge and I hope you’ve gained some amazing insights on how to do that, but the best is yet to come so I hope you will continue and finish the whole challenge out!
If you’ve missed anything or have questions, please reach out to us and let us know so we can help you!
After today’s challenge, you’ll be able to find the BEST books for your child. The ones that will keep them engaged and that they will remember well into their adult life. Maybe they will hold on to a few of them and read them to their children!
But first, have you ever heard or said one of these things?
-My child never sits still to read a book.
-I can’t get my child to read any chapter books.
-My kid thinks reading is like school work.
-My child is an advanced reader, but I’m worried about the content being age appropriate.
-Or I have a book monster! They devour books like candy!
Those are some of the common statements I hear from parents when I’m helping them find a great book or series for their children! I’ve had 4 years of practice finding the perfect books and I’m happy to say I have an amazing track record. I think I’ve only had 1 parent say that their child didn’t like a book!
The first thing we need to think about is how OFTEN we need to introduce new material to our kids. I shared that LIVE on the Facebook page so make sure you check it out below while it is still available!
So here are some of the other things I keep in mind when finding the perfect books:
- Age
- Type of Book
- Level
- Interest
- Cost
I can’t wait to share more about this tonight because I know how frustrating it can be to spend money on or even borrow books that your children don’t touch right?
I’ve also created a great solution for this with My Raise a Reader Summer Book Club! You can check out the details here: https://raisingravingreaders.com/rrrclub
As for today’s challenge, make sure you head over to the Facebook page and post your child’s favorite book or series! I’ll help respond with recommendations based on what your child already likes! You can also request a personalized book list here.
